CJ 500 Criminal Justice System Credits: 3
This graduate course provides the student with an overview of the Criminal Justice System in America. As such it is a foundation course for the master's degree. The main topics include the criminal justice process and the Rule of Law, the police, the courts system, and the corrections system. Also included is an overview of the juvenile justice system and criminological theory, as well as the role of incarceration both as a punishment and as a preventative measure aimed at protecting society. Finally, the course focuses on new technologies being utilized in the Criminal Justice System such as the investigation of cybercrime and the utilization of DNA analysis.
